Fifth Street Baptist Church Born From 1840 Consolidation

The present Fifth Street Baptist church traces to 1840 when the original Baptist group split into First and Second churches. In 1870 a reunion vote led to a compromise name Fifth Street Baptist. A long list of signers joined the new church agreement, and the remodeled church today retains that name with about a hundred members and ongoing preaching.
