Marshfield Man Killed Near West Lebanon by Train
iMiam Walker of Marshfield loses life after alighting a westbound train at West Lebanon then walking home half a mile. He reportedly drank briefly before sleeping on the tracks and was struck by No 2 as it approached. The accident occurred near West Point while being transported to Lafayette hospital. The community extends condolences to his large family.

Brewers and Wholesalers Barred From Private Beer Sales
Elwood reports Judge Zerface supports a ruling that brewers and wholesale dealers may sell beer only to licensed saloons and druggists. The Civic League notified affidavits must be filed against local brewing agencies accused of selling beer by the case to private families. The ruling could allow up to 75 cases against local dealers.

Power House and Car Barns Planned for Interurban
A Kingman correspondent reports Covington and South Western railroad plans for a new interurban facility. Bonds valued at 600 were disposed to secure the project of a power house, car barns, and machine shops. Eight acres in Kingman Heights were bought, with ground staked for the structures to start work next Monday. Kelley the coal man may drill for coal and develop multiple shafts if results prove favorable.

A severe thunderstorm north of the city caused deaths and damage. Frank Baird of Davis township was milking a cow in his barn when lightning struck the barn rod and zapped him, knocking him down. A farm hand nearby received a heavy shock. both men were numb for hours.

Colored man sues for reward in Shawnee case
Mathew Robinson of Indianapolis filed suit against the Shawnee Horse Thief Association seeking $300 for the arrest or apprehension of Robert Green. A Capitol City superior court verdict ruled Robinson entitled to the reward since he notified officers and held the thief in daytime, even if not the one to arrest him.

Allen Curtis Arrested After Four Year Flight in Texas
Allen Curtis was arrested in Montague Texas this week and returned to Michigan City state prison to serve an unexpired term. He had been at large since 189? and had been sent from Fountain County in 1898 for horse stealing. Curtis escaped from Covington jail by trapping a dummy in his cell and eluding Sheriff Bob Miller. He was tracked across several states and caught in Des Moines Iowa. Curtis, described as a bad man, was also a bank robber and member of a notorious safe blowing gang with prior sentences in Ohio Michigan and Kansas.

Reddy Day Arrested Over Depot Fight Shooting
Reddy Day, linked to a depot fight at the county fair and the shooting of Snuther Coats of Veedersburg, is under arrest in Clinton Illinois. Deputy Sheriff David Adkins transported Day to Clinton with the papers for trial. Day, 18, is described as a county fair follower, crook and gambler. Coats, an innocent spectator, was shot.
