Indiana expects to pay 1000000 and possibly 50000 on the state debt before the next legislature meets. Since 1899 the state has paid 892000 in aggregate, with 895000 or more already disbursed this year. Auditor Hart says finances are sound and by November 1 all major appropriations for state institutions will be paid, leaving a projected 100000 surplus to apply to the debt at the next payment.
