Death of Mrs Ramser in this city at 70

Mrs Christiana Ramser widow of the late John Ramser died at her son Frank Port’s home in the city on Saturday January 28 aged 70 years 8 months and 14 days. Funeral services were held at 2:30 pm Tuesday from her son’s home conducted by Rev J H Palmer with interment in Mount Hope cemetery. Community sympathy is extended to the family.

William A Price born January 10 1840 died January 31 from Brights disease at 65 with 21 days. Oldest of eleven children of Thomas and Minerva Price. Married Harriet Sharp in 1873 ten children born nine survive including Mesdames Loyd Harris George Wheatley Edward Martin Jacob Martin Willie Minnie Clyde Clint Hattie. Joined Salem ME Church 17 years ago and known as a loving husband and father. Funeral 10 am Thursday from residence northeast of the city, Rev Palmer officiating, burial at Osborns Prairie.

Judicial Bill Proposed Creating Fountain County 61st District

Representative Stansbury introduced a Judicial Bill last Thursday making Fountain a 61st district and Benton and Warren the 21st with new judges and prosecutors. Fountain would get a new judge and four ten week terms. the other district a new prosecuting attorney and four six week terms. The bill includes an emergency clause.

The grand jury began operations Wednesday. John W. Kaler of Shawnee was excused and M. L. Stanton of this city was called in his place. The jury is composed of excellent men who are now hard at work.

Aged Newtown Resident Diana Black Skelley Dies

Diana Black Skelley died at her home west of Newtown last Friday after several months of illness. Born October 2 in Ohio, she moved with her parents to Newtown in 1840 and lived there ever since. She married Thomas Martin Skelley in 1846 and they had nine children. She joined the Methodist church and remained in faith until death. Funeral services were held in Newtown with interment at the Newtown cemetery.

Dennis and Peters Face Fines in Benton Court

In Benton County last Friday a man known as Peters, who ran a local jocko joint, was fined $20 on each of 11 counts for liquor violations.
