New Attica Bridge Proposal Moves Toward State Aid

Fountain County officials study a plan to replace the Wabash crossing at Attica with a 986 foot concrete bridge. Plans by Wm J Titus of the State Highway Commission call for six spans, a 30 foot wide deck, and nine feet clearance above flood marks. The project aims to shift bridge upkeep to the state and seed 31 miles of county roads to state control. An ordinance authorizes a 282 741 dollar bond issue and immediate expenditure to replace the old bridge with state-backed funding.
