During the Popular Girl Contest the paper offers free one year subscriptions to Parm Life magazine with new or renewing yearly subscribers. Subscribers get two for the price of the paper and gain votes for their favorite girl in the contest, helping her win a $100 piano and other prizes.
An old advertisement touts Orange Blossom Suppositories as a safe remedy for uterine inflammation congestion prolapse and other reproductive issues. It claims worldwide testimonials and self use for women, with a $1 price and an offer for a book and free sample through local druggists.
Halley’s comet will not be visible to Covington residents until after May 18 when it becomes naked-eye visible. It approaches Earth at 2,000,000 miles per day and will pass 14,000,000 miles away.
