Opening of Parliament in the House of Lords
The Parliament assembled at two o'clock with Lords Commissioners and the Chancellor presiding. The Lords read the letters patent, then the Crown directed the Commons to attend for the commission. The Speaker election was to be arranged after swearing in, with oaths administered to peers including abjuration. The session adjourned at four o'clock.
