Manchester Radical Meeting Case Refuses New Trial

In the Court of King's Bench Westminster May 1 1822 the Bedford v Birley case heard a Rule to show cause why a verdict should not be set aside. Grounds include improper admission and rejection of evidence misdirection and verdict against the evidence. Lord Chief Justice postponed further consideration. Justice Horroyn read the trial report noting no new assignment on warrant excess and that violence in aiding peace officers must be within six months. Remaining morning devoted to motions for new trials with little public interest.

Hop Planters Granted Extended Hop Duty Payments
