Leather Tax Debates Spur Petitions Across Britain
House of Commons hears petitions from curriers and shoemakers in Wellingborough and from Liverpool and several counties against the leather tax and the coal duty. Aiming for inquiry or repeal, supporters urge action while others defend partial repeal and call for further study. A Lords message announces Post Office Bill adjournment.
