Milton Mitchell announces preschool storytime programs across member libraries for ages four and five. Registration is often required as sessions run in fall, winter, and spring with varying days. Families should check local library listings for schedule details and registration deadlines.
A five week workshop for juvenile fiction and non fiction skills runs October 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 from 7 to 9 PM in the Chippewa Room at L E Phillips Memorial Public Library Eau Claire. An orientation for youths aged 14 to 17 to serve as junior volunteers at Sacred Heart Hospital is set for Sept 12 from 9 30 a m to 2 p m in Treacy Hall. Volunteers assist admitted patients, work in the gift shop, and aid in physical therapy radio technology and mail delivery with contacts Mrs Peter Dix and Marion Gilbert for information.
UW Eau Claire offers a literature course titled Exploring Great Literature beginning September 10. Led by John Buchholz, the open discussion program covers American modern to contemporary writings through short stories poems plays and films with readings from the university library. Classes meet 7 to 8 30 p m at Lake Street Methodist Church Eau Claire with a 14 registration fee co sponsored by Arts and Sciences Outreach and UW Extension.
