Slocums bring Florida tomato boom to Wisconsin greenhouses
Doug and Kathy Slocum, of Sawyer County, are growing vine ripe tomatoes peppers and other crops in a Skaife Truck Farm greenhouse system shipped from Florida. They aim to turn Wisconsin into a year round harvest region with compact heat efficient greenhouses and a portable root bed system. The venture includes exclusive northern distribution rights and plans to start plants in January while expanding to nine month harvests.
