Land Bank raises loan rates in four states
The Federal Land Bank increased interest rates from 12 to 12.75 percent starting June 1 to cover loan losses from farm defaults. The change affects about 16,000 Wisconsin farmers and thousands in Minnesota North Dakota Michigan and Michigan’s others districts. Bank officials say the rise aims to avoid fiscal-year losses and is already prompting bankers to offer lower rates elsewhere.
