A UW Stout computer system manages dining by storing weekly meal data, predicting student preferences, generating ingredient requisitions, and supplying computer recipes. It reduces waste and inventory by about 75 percent, saves roughly $92 000 annually, and equalizes menu choices for early and late diners while shifting demand toward sandwiches and away from casseroles, liver, and veal.
