Juergens Farm Keeps Horse and Buggy Traditions Alive in Rusk County
Louis and Frieda Juergens plan a Sunday church ride in a horse drawn wagon, recalling early days of St. John's Lutheran Church founded in 1916. The Ladysmith dairy farm spans 415 acres with 30 cows, 15 horses, 60 head of youngstock, and a 13 member family. The couple recently added Arabian horses, continuing a long local passion for equine life.

Surreys and Sunday rides revive old time farming in Curtiss
Louis Juergens, a 50 year dairy farmer from Rusk County, restores a pre tractor surrey with an Amish craftman’s wheel hubs and steel rims. He rides to St John’s Lutheran Church at Ladysmith behind Arabian geldings Raffy and Duc on Easter morning and plans to repeat, weather permitting, for Mother’s Day 1981.
