Alma Kees of rural Durand was named Buffalo County Extension Homemaker of the Year at the Spring Council on April 26. Diane Johnson, Buffalo County home economist, praised Kees as a doer active in the home church school Extension Homemaker organization and community. Kees and her husband farm south of Durand and run Alma High School art classes while raising 10 children. She has chaired county events and helped found the Prairie Pioneer 4-H Club, with extensive Willing Workers club involvement and multiple committees.
