Prevent holey cabbage with early control methods
Cabbage worms, including the cabbage looper and imported cabbage worm, damage cabbage and related cole crops by eating leaves and tunneling heads. Rose chafer control tips from Pepin County agent
Pepin County agricultural agent Lee Milligan explains rose chafer damage to garden plants in late June and July. He advises insecticides containing carbaryl or methoxychlor and notes a gardener may spray six to eight times per season during heavy infestations. For small worm presence, hand removal is suggested and wrapping cabbage heads helps prevent moth eggs.
