House approves funds for dairy forage center
Rep. Bob Kastenmeier announced the House approved 900000 dollars for the U S Dairy Forage Research Center in Madison as part of the fiscal 1980 Agriculture Appropriations Bill. He said gains in dairy product efficiency justify the funding and noted restoration of 110 million for the Special Milk Program plus support for research extension and conservation.

Grain Reserve allows corn releases if price hits 125 percent
ASCS says farmers with corn in the Grain Reserve may sell after settling government loans. The federal price trigger is 125 percent of a $2 loan, or $2.50 per bushel, a level now reached. About 730 million bushels are in reserve as July 31 reviews decide if releases continue and storage payments stop. Farmers may keep corn and receive storage payments until the next price review.
