Dairyland delegates hear call for more flexible power planning
Dairyland Power Cooperative chief Frank Linder warned delegates at the 38th annual meeting that the electric industry has lost flexibility to accelerate build programs, raising costs and risking reliability. Louis Strong of Kentucky Electric Cooperatives echoed the strain, noting rising energy demand with 30 million new households by century's end. He warned of a national energy crisis as the country faces growth, while Dairyland outlines plans for Project 1987 to add a 400 to 650 megawatt coal plant by 1987 amid debates over Tyrone nuclear expansion and MAPP capacity.
