Birth of six black footed ferret kits gives hope to rare species
In Wyoming a captive captive-bred black footed ferret named Becky gave birth to six babies at the Sybille Wildlife Research Institute northeast of Laramie. The parents Scarface and Becky belonged to the last wild colony near Meeteetse. Researchers say the litter marks potential progress after decades of decline driven by prairie dog poisoning and past failed captive programs.
