A Wisconsin observer recounts the chase for a cattle egret northeast of Marshfield, noting delays, misdirections, and the bird’s eventual sighting near grazing cattle. The piece traces how cattle egrets spread from Africa to North America, first seen in Wisconsin in 1960, and discusses ongoing sightings, regional range, and local ornithology work by Robbins and the Milwaukee Public Museum. The column reflects on twitcher culture, seasonal migration, and ongoing bird surveys in May and June.
