Bit and Spur to Host 50th Annual Horse Show

The Bit and Spur Club hosts its 50th annual show at the clubground six miles west of Eau Claire on CTH E with sessions 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday featuring three- and five-gaited saddles, pleasure walking horses, harness ponies, Morgan, Western and English classes, and a long history dating to 1925.

Horses need yearly dental checks to keep teeth healthy

UW Extension expert Ray Antoniewicz urges horse owners to inspect and maintain teeth annually. Uneven wear causes painful chewing, with sharp enamel edges and points injuring cheeks and tongue. A float corrects wear, often without anesthesia, and dental exams reveal other mouth problems that can cause unthriftiness or colic.
