Dairy Policy Commission vice chairman warns against family farms under price support
Wisconsin Dells reports that the National Commission on Dairy Policy, formed under the 1985 Farm Bill, told Farm ers Union Milk Marketing Cooperative members not to tie family farms to the price support system. Vice chairman Fred Douma outlined preliminary conclusions rejecting family farm size as a criterion, saying the price support should ensure milk supply and farm income while supporting diverse dairy operations. The panel aims for a consensus package for Congress by March.
