Watershed plan forms from Whitehall meetings
Six Buffalo Trempealeau and five lower Chippewa basins top Wisconsin Fund nonpoint funding list after three Whitehall meetings. DNR official John Vodacek reports consensus on problems like livestock runoff and stream erosion and outlines voluntary practices such as strip cropping and contouring with concerns over farm continuity and funding carryover. Draft cleanup plans target February completion with final approval by late February as regional committees trim the list to 24 watersheds for state coordination.
