Fish hatchery license denied at Delta Farm near Fountain City
The Department of Natural Resources rejected renewing Delta Fish and Fur Farm’s operating license, citing the 160 acre limit on hatcheries and a failed water control structure. The farm, along 4,778 acres near Fountain City, had been privately fished for over six decades and previously had its license revoked in December 1977 after fish from the Trempealeau River were entering farm waters.
