Record deer harvest hits 182130 in 9 day gun season
State DNR big game specialist Frank Haberland reports a record 182130 gun deer registrations with up to 30000 more possible by bow season end. The increase is led by west central and central regions with higher quotas and an either sex Mississippi zone. Buck harvest fell slightly while antlerless take rose in quota areas. Public understanding of hunter's choice remains poor and a study is planned.
