New forage-handling system speeds field to silo transfer
Ashland’s Myron Anderson with Bill and Bob Koser markets a unique system to move chopped alfalfa from chopper box to truck and on to a silo. The setup uses a self-contained hydraulic drive, a 7.5 by 7.5 feet chopper box, and a truck rack to dump loads quickly onto a conveyor, reducing wagon needs. The system, still patent pending, has been demonstrated on four farms and is produced by Anko Co. in Barron with contact 715-537-5654.

Green Isle Minnesota farmer Arthur White and Melvin Greenlee plan a 300 cow Guernsey operation fed entirely on corn silage with Blenda Life topdressing. They build a 30 by 90 silo, 300 by 70 foot barn, 120 foot manure store, milking parlor, and exercise yard while training dairymen in the method. The venture includes a large ice cooled 15 ton bulk tank and an Anko field silage handling system.
