Nitrogen carryover found in Wisconsin fields study shows high levels
Agronomist Mel Milbrath of Pro-Ag Crop Consultants in Menomonie reports widespread nitrate nitrogen carryover in well fertilized fields. In a late fall sample of over 200 fields, average top two feet carryover reached 131 pounds per acre with county variations, indicating potential for reduced spring nitrogen applications and significant cost savings across 11,000 acres surveyed.
