Sheep research program unveiled for Spooner farm
Spooner participants at the 29th annual Spooner Sheep Day witnessed the launch of a three to five year pasture management study at the UW Spooner Experimental Station. Led by Art Pope, the project aims to cut grain feed and labor by boosting forage yields and extending growing seasons with new varieties and fall forages. The program will compare spring grazing of winter wheat with bluegrass plus early nitrogen to start pasture access by May 1, using May and June lambing ewes and their lambs.
