Highway 53 extension plans near Spooner debated
Public hearing on the 27 mile four lane extension of Highway 53 from Rice Lake to Trego drew about 200 attendees. Officials discussed route options, costs, and funding with input from Spooner residents, Superior officials, and industry groups. The project could cost up to 80 million and design work begins soon with construction possible in the late 1980s.
