Rough Fish Harvest Hits Lake St Croix in Fall and Spring
Sorensen Fish Co. of Bay City fishes Lake St Croix near Prescott catching rough fish. Some hauls reach 30,000 pounds with live transport to markets in Omaha Toledo and New York. PCB contamination in the Mississippi River and Lake Pepin has nearly ended the business. Milton Sorensen left office and Mike Sorensen 22 has taken over hoping for cleanup to resume. The elder Sorensen laments pollution and notes PCB was banned after Japan found the toxin in 1972.
