Awake motorist survives 100 foot plunge on Route 66
William A. Hell, 22, of Manchester Pennsylvania, fell asleep at the wheel near Joliet Illinois on Route 66. His car crossed the highway, struck a power pole, plunged 100 feet into an abandoned quarry and landed on all four wheels. He stepped out unhurt but wide awake and reported the incident.
