Leon Lafferty Dies After Long Illness at 73
Leon M. Lafferty, 73, longtime farm loan man in Council Bluffs, died Saturday night after a lengthy illness. A native of Cambridge, Iowa, he served in the Spanish American War with Bryan’s Nebraska volunteers, worked in banking and farm lending in Beatrice, Lincoln, and Council Bluffs, and held leadership roles in Rotary and Elks. He lived at Hotel Chieftain and is survived by three sisters in Denver. Funeral arrangements are with Cutler's funeral home.
