The water works board opened two sealed bids for the Mt. Lincoln booster pumping station on Lawton Ter between Elder and North Second streets. Anderson Construction offered $28,200 to build the monolithic structure and install equipment. C. C. Larsen and Long bid $31,038. Construction starts two weeks after the contract is let, with three pumps: two electric pumps at 350 gallons per minute each and one emergency gasoline pump at 700 gallons per minute.

Driver of the second car was Jacobus Gras smidt of Grand Rapids Michigan. Brakeman G D Bales of Boone, a Chicago and North Western railroad worker, lost his left leg below the knee Monday night after falling beneath a train near Carroll. He was hospitalized in Carroll.
