Tulsa oil group plans a 2800-foot test near Lamont in Decatur county Iowa. L B Jackson Co of Tulsa will drill using a rotary rig moved from Pawnee county Oklahoma. The lease on about 2000 acres dates to 1943 with rentals paid after L B Jackson's 1945 death. Pearl B Jackson and L B Jackson Jr hold the rights. Consulting geologist L E Kennedy recommended the test and a contract was let for completion by April.
Allen C. Brown reports on Roger Dean, once deemed doomed by muscular dystrophy, returning from New York where a special treatment and diet regimen gave signs of progress. Neighbors in River Sioux and surrounding towns funded the trip with about 1188 dollars, hopeful that the boy might live beyond his predicted 14th year as doctors reconsider the incurable label.

Local 600, one of the union's most left wing locals, represents Ford workers at River Rouge in Dearborn. Peak membership once topped 65,000. current roles are about 45,000 due to auto production cutbacks.
An Eisenhower backer in Paris says Gen. Lucius D. Clay will return to testify on foreign aid if Congress insists, while Sen. McMahon pushes Senate action to invite Eisenhower on the $7.3 billion aid bill. Some supporters fear a presidential bid may be hurt by his appearance. Taft grows delegate lead as North Carolina and Illinois backers pledge in a whirlwind campaign toward the national convention.
Sen Taft shows 44 pledged or favorable delegates with Dwight D Eisenhower at 29 of 86 selected as the Republican nominating convention race narrows. With 1 205 total delegates and 903 needed to win Chicago in July, Taft maintains a margin heading toward the convention.

Trihegi was taken at a hospital awaiting surgery for a back injury. Sorrenti was arrested at his Milwaukee apartment.
Taxpayers who have not yet submitted income tax forms face a Sunday of rest cancellation and a Monday extension. The Internal Revenue Service Wickham Building opens 7 45 am to 4 30 pm to assist filers with their returns as Monday midnight deadline looms.

Washington AP report says the government urged CIO steelworkers to delay the March 23 strike to at least April 8. Wage stabilization board chairman Nathan Feinsinger and President Philip Murray led talks as the board aims to finalize recommendations by Thursday. A Sunday meeting was set to accelerate the process, with negotiations to begin within three days after recommendations.
Secretary of Defense Lovett warned Saturday that communists face heavy losses if they launch large scale attacks in Korea. In a semi annual defense report he noted UN forces hold a strong defensive line in central Korea. He said jet air power challenges US pilots and projected military spending to about 18 percent of GNP in 1952 with substantial manpower needs.
The Air Force will present President Truman two zipper type flying jackets with the presidential seal for use on plane trips aboard the Independence. One jacket is winter weight and the other a summer version, designed for comfort during flights and not for other occasions.
In Three Oaks Michigan a grease fire at Cowan's restaurant near the truck stop set off the town’s fire alarm. The whistle to summon volunteers stuck, waking 1500 residents for about 15 minutes before an engineer shut it off. Truck drivers had already doused the blaze with hand extinguishers.
Mrs. June T. Hunt, 70, vice president of the National Federation of Republican Women’s Clubs, died Saturday at Silver Cross Hospital. She collapsed after leaving a political rally in Peotone, Illinois, according to officials.
