Boyne-VFW group seeks direct power option in Boyne
The Boyne-VFW group asks the city council to press Western Iowa Power to grant Southwestern Iowa Power and Light a direct option to purchase local power facilities. The plan would let the city buy power within its limits with a six month window and a 20 year franchise if voters approve. Aldermen debated ownership, with Katelman urging municipal ownership and opposing the petition. Keleher of the group said they are ready to take over the utility with an outside firm operating it.
