Guard Units Are Being Filled Fast in Iowa

Local and southwest Iowa National Guard units may be filled by Thursday night as recruiting surges. In 24 hours at least 20 new members joined the 168th Infantry in Council Bluffs and nearby companies. Scranton Pilot Killed in Detroit Air Crash

DETROIT—A mid air collision of two naval reserve fighters Wednesday afternoon caused fires in three blocks and a factory, killing Ensign J. Nicholson 25 of Scranton and Ensign Roy E.
