Steel Strike Talks Stall Near Deadline
Washington officials privately fear a steel industry and United Steelworkers Union walkout by June 30, the union contract expiration date. Government may intervene if stalemate continues. Taft-Hartley provisions could bring court injunctions and delay, shifting talks toward a final showdown in Washington. Joseph Finnegan may step in if progress stalls further.
