The Rev Loren Works, former pastor of First Christian Church, is named non den minational chaplain for Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs. He will start Sept 1 and move with his family to the old Beeline property. Works, previously in McAllen Texas, will work with local pastors, conduct chapel services, counsel patients and families, and assist in public relations. He served here 1940 to 1949 and chaired the hospital nursing school committee.

Evangeline Lorimer, 21, a nurse with an interest in fasting, emerged from a Smoky Mountains wilderness after about two weeks with no food or protection. Rangers report puffed feet and insect bites but no malnutrition. She was hospitalized for observation and said she heard searchers but lacked energy to answer. She was found near the general area of her disappearance in June and decided it was time to come out.
