Iowan Rescued From Deep Cistern Near Rome Farm
Mrs. Robert Barton, 61, of Burlington, was rescued after falling into a six foot deep water filled cistern at her family farm three miles west of Rome. Neighbors and a passing motorist pulled her to safety after a rope was improvised and lowered to her. She suffered a head gash and shock but was listed in fair condition at Fairfield hospital.
