United Air Lines Plane Crash Kills 37 Near Sunbury
United Air Lines said its flight 624 from San Diego to New York with 37 passengers and crew aboard forced down and apparently crashed near Sunbury Pennsylvania. Missouri Valley Motorist Killed in Highway 15 Crash
One man was killed and a second seriously injured when a car ran off a curve on highway 15 four miles north of Counter Bluffs. William Gordon of Missouri Valley died at the scene. Charles Carmichael, also of Missouri Valley, suffered leg and body injuries and was taken to a Council Bluffs hospital. Earl Kinart of Modale said the car was traveling fast and rolled over several times. The death marked the eighth traffic fatality in Pottawattamie County for 1948.
