Edwin Manleys 49 of Albia was cranking a Ford when it backed across an intersection near the municipal pool struck a refreshment stand and Mrs. Croft, dragging her into the street and into a house.

Iowa employment fell again in May per the state employment security commission. It marked the fifth straight month of decline with a 12 percent drop from April. The commission noted a gradual reduction in employment opportunities since January.

Kids Will Have at Least 4500 Bullheads for Kidsfish Day

The state conservation commission moved 4500 bullheads from Spirit Lake to Gilbert's pond for Kidsfish Day on Saturday. No Charge Filed Against Meldrum Alderman

No charge had been filed up to noon Wednesday against First Ward Alderman Clarence B Meldrum who was arrested after a fiery council meeting Monday night. He is at liberty under $500 bond pending possible action by police on a driving charge. County Attorney Don Jackson said he would decide Thursday what action will be taken. Meldrum could not be reached for comment.

Edger Prehm 35 year old farmer died Tuesday after an illness that followed a brain hemorrhage. He had been ill for more than a month and prompted neighboring farmers to stage an old fashioned plowing bee last week northeast of Fort Dodge.
