Cost to Expand Iowa Medical School Education

DES MOINES The University of Iowa estimates it would cost about 1.5 million dollars to raise medical school enrollment to 120 students annually. Current facilities handle about 20 yearly. capital needs cover equipment and classrooms, not extra staff. Additional faculty would cost about a year. The 1949 legislature urged increasing medical students by 90 to supply more doctors for Iowa communities.

Czech Ambassador Jacobs Quits Post

Picnic Illness Strikes 250 at Seymour Packing Outing

About 250 persons were treated for food poisoning after a Seymour Packing Company picnic in Topeka. Two hundred got emergency care at five hospitals, with 30 more treated at home. County Coroner H. L. Clark said salad dressing likely caused ptomaine poisoning. no one was in critical condition.

Release Meldrum Under $500 Bond

Meldrum, 41, an attorney at 335 North First Street, was arrested Monday night and released Tuesday morning on under $500 bond.
