Washington. House Ways and Means committee voted to raise excise taxes on gasoline automobiles and many items as part of a bill calling for about 7.3 billion dollars yearly in new taxes. The package includes higher corporate levies wagering tax and broader excess profits levy.
Davenport report says Gordon Alley and Herbert Alley, brothers aged 18 and 21, both graduated Tuesday night. Gordon claimed victory after his diploma arrived first due to his initial, winning a $1 bet that he would graduate before Herbert from Davenport High School. Herbert had re enrolled after navy service to compete.

Hank has a teacher to help learn the hook while neighbors and a local fund, growing to over 8500 dollars, support his care, education, and equipment.
Demolition of the federal building expected to finish by October 6. The original section will be razed. Einar Mogensen, maintenance supervisor for Omaha Council Bluffs federal buildings, said Harris Wrecking Company of Cleveland, Ohio, signed the contract. The firm has 120 days from June 8 to complete. GSA Kansas City has not yet announced start date.
