Second Accident Victim Is Dead

Miss Nadine Gill 21 of Atlantic died Tuesday in a Council Bluffs hospital from injuries in a two car crash on Highway 6 east of Council Bluffs Saturday. Sister Sarah Witte 28 also died. five others were injured. Gill had a basal skull fracture in the crash near the Silver Creek Bridge east of Quick. Burial planned in Extra Cemetery.

Bloedel Resting At Hamburg Hospital

Rep. A. S. Bloedel, 79, of Tabor is resting well at Hamburg Hospital after a heart attack last week. He had earlier been hospitalized in Council Bluffs following a heart ailment this month.

Steamboat Route to Sioux City Promised by Engineer

Brig Gen W E Potter told a Senate subcommittee that five future years may see steamboats on the Missouri River from St Louis to Sioux City. Congress authorized a nine foot navigation channel and current funding could take about ten years. a six foot channel northward might be feasible sooner due to upstream dam projects. He cited the pre war three million appropriation sealing the river and noted next year's 55.8 million budget sustains progress. BRT to Seek $2.50 Daily Wage Increase Nationwide

The Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen will request a $2.50 daily wage hike for its 215 000 members across all classifications. President W P Kennedy announced after a wage committee meeting in Chicago stating the raise applies to all jobs under BRT jurisdiction. Current pay ranges cited include passenger brakemen earning $1.45 daily and footboard yardmasters at $1.907 per day.

Triplett Murder Trial Opens in Sioux City Jurors

The prosecutor in the Ern est J. Triplett case tells jurors a taped statement exists in which Triplett admitted involvement in the disappearance and death of 8 year old Jimmy Bremmer. Bremmer vanished August 31 from Sioux City. his body was found in a farm pasture a month later. Triplett, a traveling music lessons salesman, entered Cherokee State Mental Health Institute as a voluntary patient after being held as a Bremmer suspect.

IRS settles $1,300 against estate of William N. Lapp

IRS said it accepted $1,300 in settlement of tax claims totaling $37,086 for 1984 to 1945 against the estate of William N. Lapp of Ames. Lapp died July 5, 1945, and his estate was adjudged insolvent.
