West Hands Over Four Power Plan for Berlin
Paris, The west presented to Russia Thursday its plan to restore four power control in Berlin. A French informant said the United States Britain and France proposed terms were laid before the Soviet union during a 90 minute foreign ministers council meeting, the shortest of the ten day session. The ministers will meet again Friday in a secret session to address east west disputes over Berlin. They agree only in principle that the divided German city should be reunited under a single governing body. The talks touched on a Western proposal to limit veto power in the four power body and a hint that the Russians might accept trimming the komandatura area of authority. Western delegates led by Secretary of State Dean Acheson pressed for modification of the rule that all decisions require unanimous consent.

Senate Vows Economy as Pension Bill Faces Uncertain Path
Washington Senators hailed a near 13 million dollar cut in operating funds for state and justice departments as they scrutinize President Truman’s spending program. The House had approved a 72 dollar monthly pension for WWI and WWII veterans at 65, with a projected 65 billion dollar cost over 50 years. The Senate finance committee will likely take up the pension measure, though its fate remains unclear due to ill health of Chairman George and ongoing economy debates.
