Parsons to Launch Long Range Plan for Development

Fairfield Iowa Parsons College will begin a 1.5 million dollar long range education program this year. President Tom E Shearer announced at commencement. Planned projects include a campus boulevard in memory of Prof Charles Carter about 20 thousand dollars. A new 234 thousand dollar men’s dormitory will start in summer. Funds include 60.4 thousand for the Mid-America Foundation 45 thousand for operating budget and scholarship. Donor Hubert E Howard a 1909 graduate gave 100 thousand dollars to start the program. Faculty and friends will raise additional funds.

Private Barge Line to Operate From St Louis Omaha

A private barge line plans service on the Missouri between St Louis and Omaha for the first time since before World War I. David D. Parker of a Texas line announced that Houston businessmen bought the Sioux City New Orleans Barge Line Co. name and charter. Two shallow draft towbarges are under construction in Houston. grain crude and other products would move Omaha to New Orleans and Houston.
