Coroner William Arrivey said gas apparently was seeping from a hole in the car muffler and concentrated in the back seat. A baby in Mrs Edmiston arms was in the front seat and unharmed. The Edmistons who are touring the country with a trailer said they did not notice any fumes.
Dr. Eddie Anderson resigns as head football coach at the University of Iowa effective after his current year. Athletic Director Paul Brechler confirms acceptance and notes Anderson considered other offers but details remain undisclosed. Brechler says a new four year contract was offered with higher pay but tenure could not be guaranteed by state education rules.
Mrs Amelia Coan age 76 of Sioux City was a state historian for the Town de Parlmert of the American Legion auxiliary. She died Saturday after a long illness in Madison Wisconsin. Funeral services will be held in Sioux City on Wednesday.

Six persons were injured Saturday when a streetcar in Des Moines caught fire. Passengers leapt from windows and sustained cuts and bruises as flames erupted from the front control box. The injured were taken to Broadlawns General Hospital.
The Southwest Iowa Boy Scout Council will send 132 Scouts to the Second National Jamboree at Valley Forge state park Pennsylvania June 30 to July 6. The contingent will form four troops under a scout master and two assistants with a pre camp here. They will travel via Chicago Washington D C and Philadelphia with a Greater New York tour after the jamboree and a major league baseball game. Local reservations close February 20.
