Death of H E Groneweg Dies at Local Hospital
H E Groneweg aged 66 died at a local hospital Saturday after a three week illness. A Council Bluffs native, he was educated here and graduated from Town State college at Ames. He served as vice president of Groneweg and Schoentgen Wholesale Grocer and later as a ration board member. He helped organize the First National Bank board and was a member of Edks lodge. Survived by Kate and Hattie Groneweg, Mrs. Painter Knox, brother Richard Groneweg, niece Mrs. Esther Halloran, nephews Ernest Groneweg and William Knox, Capt Cho Knox, two grand nieces, two grand nephews. Body lies in state at his home until funeral. Cutler's funeral home in charge.
