Man Seriously Hurt In Saw Mill Mishap

Mann Was Seriously Injured Thursday in a saw mill accident at Midwest Walnut Log Co on South Ave. He was taken in critical condition to Mercy Hospital with possible back and chest injuries and head cuts after being thrown from logs. Officials said a crane cable drum locking device failed and a boom dropped, loosening logs and striking him.

City Traffic Commission rejects plans to cut speed limit

Wednesday afternoon the City Traffic Commission rejected three proposals to reduce speed on North Broadway from Oak St to Gunn Ave from 25 to 20 mph. The panel kept the 25 mph limit, citing existing 23 mph signs and noting final decisions rest with the City Council.
