North Dakota Montana Colorado and Wyoming lawmakers question the need for a Missouri Valley authority to develop flood control irrigation and navigation. Senators and representatives differ on bills promoting authority while stressing reclamation and noting possible sticking points with war department oversight and state interests.
Senator Gillette of Louisiana introduced a bill in the Senate Tuesday to create a Missouri Valley authority prioritizing irrigation claims over navigation on the Missouri River. Governor John Moses criticized the measure on Thursday, arguing North Dakota and neighboring states cannot back a plan that does not recognize irrigation priorities over river navigation.
An immense Allied air assault targets Germany and Czechoslovakia with about 2300 American planes and 1300 taxi bombers plus 1000 fighters striking Merseburg Misburg Ruhland Brunswick and other sites near the Czech border.
